The Transcendence Services Leadership Vision

Our vision is to help the shift in paradigm in leadership of organisations, from the traditional management approach based on linear thinking to an emergent approach based on complexity theories. The dismal rates of failure of 70%+ of organisational change projects reflects an inadequate understanding and ability to successfully work with the nature of change. Organisations are facing unprecedented levels of change due to the turbulent business environment and increasing levels of interdependencies. The ability to manage change and gain better skills in dealing with dilemmas and complex issues needs to be a core competency for leaders.
The dominant planned approach is based on linear concepts imported from Newtonian principles in the 1900s. This is effective with short range and highly routine functions but not more unpredictable situations. Complexity theories provide the basis to create management approaches and leadership development based on the true nature of change. Leaders are enabled to become effective in the skills that specifically support the self-organising nature of the world arising from the interdependencies of all actors and the environment in producing emergent patterns and hence deal with dilemmas and complexity that are faced.

- A program of leadership development to specifically address skills and capabilities identified in the diagnostic to deal with our complex environment. This also focuses on development of congruent leaders including their connection to meaningful work, which has been shown in the field of Positive Psychology to be most important for personal effectiveness. - Development and delivery of processes and approaches that support ongoing effective management and collaboration. These facilitate sense making and decision making in complex and turbulent environments.
